Clean energy

In people’s imagination coal is still often associated with emissions, acid rain, light ash and grey, ravaged landscapes. However, the reality has been different for a long time. To a significant extent, present-day power plants produce neither light ash nor sulphur oxides, which were the cause of acid rain in the past.

On the contrary, coal and its exploitation are becoming the source of clean energy. For example fire-damp, which is a by-product of mining in the Ostrava region, has a virtually identical composition to natural gas, the demand for which is still growing.

Primarily, it is the new technologies of coal processing and utilization that are being developped:

Company code of ethics

The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.

The code of ethics is not any binding rule of law or internal directive, it represents, however, a moral obligation for each employee of OKD.
