Customers

In terms of composition and quality the coal produced in OKD respects not only the technological requirements but also the environmental needs. It finds its use in coking plants (approximately half of the production), power and heating plants, cement mills, or in power facilities of metallurgical, engineering or chemical plants at home and abroad.

The character and volume of production predetermine the preference of long-term and direct contractual trade relationships.

Domestic customers

Approximately two thirds of sales are realized within the relationship with several large domestic metallurgical and power consumers whose annual take-off exceeds hundreds of thousands of tons. To cover the needs of the communal sphere, inhabitants and small industrial entities, contracts are concluded with whole-sale firms which are equipped for distribution in smaller volumes. Direct trade relations are concluded also with end consumers who take off products in the order of tens of thousands of tons a year.

The main consumers are the large metallurgical and power companies. Over 74 % of production intended for domestic market goes to the five most significant customers:

  • Arcelor Mittal Ostrava a. s.
  • MORAVIA STEEL a.s.
  • OKK Koksovny, a.s.
  • Dalkia Česká republika, a.s.
  • ČEZ, a.s.

Among other significant consumers of fuels at home belong for example ŠKO-ENERGO, s. r. o., Synthesia a. s., Cement Hranice, a. s., Českomoravský cement, a. s. succession company, Atel Energetika Zlín s. r. o. or ECK Generating, s. r. o.

Export abroad

A considerable part of the supplies is formed by those directed to export positions (to Austria, Slovakia, Germany, Poland and Hungary). Among the structural contracts connected to export of coal and coke are contracts concluded mostly on a long-term basis for example with the following customers:

  • U.S.Steel Košice, s. r. o.
  • Voestalpine Rohstoffbeschaffungs-GmbH
  • DBK-Donau Brennstoffkkontor GmbH
  • Verbund-Austrian Thermal Power GmbH & Co KG
  • Arcelor Mittal Poland S.A.
  • SWM Services GmbH
