OKD personnel have donated needed materials to a protected textile workshop

28.7.2010

OSTRAVA – The OKD Foundation team had to order a delivery van to deliver proceeds of the company’s collection to a textile workshop, operated by the Trigon Association in Poruba because they managed to collect a large quantity of fabric, cloth, balls of wool and yarn, unnecessary clothing, buttons and zips. Both individuals and women’s teams from the Darkov and Paskov Mine surface work areas participated in the collection.

“The materials were brought to us in big boxes from the mines, and the others mostly brought more than one bag. Nobody paid for anything, they have just “aerated” their wardrobes, looked through their drawers and jointly contributed to a good thing,” stated Blanka Týřová, Director, OKD Foundation, who came up with the collection idea. Together with Lenka Marková, Deputy Director and Zuzana Macháčková, an officer, she personally handed that large quantity of materials over to Trigon.

Collection pulled the thorn from the foot

A visit of the OKD Foundation team to that organization, working with psychiatric patients and physically and mentally handicapped people, was a cue for the collection. “They have a textile workshop, where they fabricate really fantastic things. They were obtaining residual materials from a textile company, which was however closed down. Therefore, we decided to help. In fact, as we say we have pulled the thorn from their foot” said Marková.

The Trigon personnel and clients became enthused by the materials, by the way brought to the OKD Foundation also by a few readers of the Horník Magazine. “You can hardly imagine the reaction of those working in the textile workshop. They immediately selected balls of wool and yarn, including buttons, for their work. They look forward to sewing, crocheting, knitting and weaving. We were pleased by the OKD Foundation interest in our Association activities. Thank you,” said Olga Rosenbergerová, Director.
