OSTRAVA/AMSTERDAM – The Open Mine Magazine informing about the events taking place within the entire NWR group appears in a hard copy version for the first time. The current issue brings inter alia a report on the on-going reclamation projects in the Karviná region, an extensive interview with OKD's CEO Klaus-Dieter Beck, an article on the world’s deepest mine or details on the autumn conference of mine rescuers. It also informs about the inaugural year of the OKD Foundation Awards for the best non-profit sector projects of last year and about the success of OKD in the TOP Philanthropist 2009 competition.
The pilot issue appeared last year in a pdf format only; this year, it will appear regularly every three months. The magazine that appears only in Czech and in English for the time being, is intended mainly for trading partners, shareholders, journalists or representatives of mining towns and villages. All the OKD employees and those interested in the events taking place in the mining industry can also have access to it since it can be downloaded from www.newworldresources.eu. A link is also included on the OKD website (www.okd.cz).
“The magazine offers interesting views of the backstage of coal mining or coke production, but it will also present those activities of the firm that are not directly related to the production. On the pages of the Open Mine magazine, company managers will outline their ideas for the future of the entire NWR group and other interesting personalities from among the company staff will be introduced to the readership as well. On a regular basis, the magazine will inform on the economic results of the firm and will offer comparisons of the situations in the mining industry in the Czech Republic and abroad,“ Vladislav Sobol, Editor-in-Chief of the Open Mine Magazine, comments on the intentions of the editorial board.
In the issue that has just appeared, our gaffer Lojzek was given a place of honour, too. Owing to the Open Mine Magazine, it will be introduced literally to readers all around the world for the first time.
