About us
OKD is the only producer of hard coal (bituminous coal) in the Czech Republic. Its coal is mined in the southern part of the Upper-Silesian coal basin – in the Ostrava-Karviná district. OKD prospects, mines, dresses, refines and sells hard coal with low sulphur content or other materials. Such coal is a versatile fuel, it can also be utilized for coking, in the chemical industry and other sectors.

Coal is often associated with the outdated orientation of the economy towards heavy industry, obsolete plants and environmental burden. In fact, there is already growing demand for high-quality coal relevant to metallurgy. Its role in the world economy will be increasingly more significant with the dwindling stock of oil and natural gas.

Company code of ethics
The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.
The code of ethics is not any binding rule of law or internal directive, it represents, however, a moral obligation for each employee of OKD.
